Thank you all for your Christmas greetings and for all the wonderful comments you have made on the Jolasveinar posts.
Our Christmas here in Denmark has been wonderful. We have learned so
much about the Danish Christmas customs, many of which are very much
like the customs of my childhood in Iceland.
We started our adventure at the Christmas market, in Tivoli in Copenhagen.
We were in Copenhagen for two days and then we went north to Aalborg where our family lives.
This photo is from Tivoli...I could do a whole post on Tivoli...perhaps I will do that next year :)
I am treasuring the time that I am having with my family here in Denmark...our Little Prince is wonderful and took to us right away. We feel that he knew us already because we Skype (video cam) every weekend, when we are in the States and they here in Denmark.
We went to the woods to pick out the Christmas tree two days before Christmas.
Here is a photo of my son Brian and our Little Victor aka The Little Prince :)
This is the Christmas tree that we went to woods to pick out.It was set up in the living room and decorated with candles, the Danish flags and many lovely decorations including heart bags.
One of the customs that Iceland and Denmark have in common is dancing around the Christmas tree.
Here is Victor and his Amma enjoying this lovely custom.
We had a lovely dinner of Duck and all the good things that go with it. The first course was Sild (Herring) one of my all time favorite dishes. I was happy to hear that the herring comes from Iceland.
My three very favorite men...Ken my Husband, Brian my Son and Victor my Grandson...I am a very rich woman indeed.
We did not have snow on Christmas but we did have a white Christmas.
Talk with you soon again...I am on my way to another Christmas party. I hope you enjoyed seeing and hearing a little bit about our Christmas in Denmark.
