Kertasníkir.....Candle-beggar appears on Christmas Eve as the children wait in anticipation while their parents light the Christmas candles. When the family leaves the living room to get the children. Kertasníkir slips into the room and takes as many candles as he can carry.
The Jólasveinar and my project to count down to Christmas, by showing and talking about them each day, introducing their charming family, Grýla, Leppalúði and the Jólaköttur (Christmas Cat), has brought me more joy than I could ever have imagined.
This year I showed you six new Jólasveinar that I made this year. I had hoped to make all thirteen in this new manner...however, I started right after Thanksgiving (got the idea during a Thanksgiving dinner discussion) and there just were not enough hours in the day for me to finish. Life and living it comes into play, this being the busiest month of the year. I look forward to sharing the Jólasveinar story with you next year, with seven new fellows a new version of Grýla, Leppalúði and the Jólaköttur. I might even have new stories to share or at the very least a new version of the time honored stories of the Jólasveinar.
Thank your for your visits and kind words. I wish you very Happy Holidays and remember there are no calories in holiday dinners and goodies...or so I have been told.
